MUR Hotels’s Sustainability

GRANTS TO FINANCE ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY PROJECTS FOR TOURISM COMPANIES LOCATED WITHIN THE AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY OF THE CANARY ISLANDS, UNDER THE RECOVERY, TRANSFORMATION, AND RESILIENCE PLAN, FINANCED BY THE EUROPEAN UNION «NEXT GENERATION EU».

In our commitment to offering a more sustainable and environmentally friendly experience, we have carried out a significant upgrade to our Domestic Hot Water (DHW) production facilities: the replacement of the old propane gas boiler and low-temperature heat pumps with a modern high-temperature heat pump.

Thanks to this action, we have achieved greater energy efficiency, significantly reducing fossil fuel consumption and $CO_2$ emissions without compromising the comfort of our guests.

This improvement has been made possible through the support of the Grants for energy efficiency and circular economy projects in tourist accommodation establishments in the Canary Islands, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (RTRP) financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

The execution of these works involved a total investment of €148,660.54 (ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-EIGHT THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED AND SIXTY EUROS AND FIFTY-FOUR CENTS), for which a grant of €150,000.00 (ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND EUROS) was received.

With this initiative, we continue to move towards a more responsible and efficient tourism model, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.

We continue working with the commitment to implement a sustainable lifestyle within our accommodations. We are proud to say that all our accommodations have obtained this certificate for achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

We are very aware of the importance of caring for the environment, that is why at MUR Hotels, we have been taking measures for a few years to improve our facilities in the face of environmental care, such as the placement of solar thermal panels in all the ceilings of our facilities. To date, we have managed to reduce a total of 284.822kg of CO₂ into the Atmosphere:

Annual electric energy production is around 1.665,000 kWh, which is the equivalent of reducing 1,300 tons of CO₂ in the atmosphere. The solar plant, which began construction last September, was built by Grupo ProARF during a period of roughly three months.

We consume what we produce, ultimately achieving 100% decarbonisation. Take a look at this video which shows how the solar plant was built in just three months.
